This is an ongoing discussion of the practices, problems and prognosis of the damage restoration industry, particularly as they relate to estimating, pricing and claims payment practices.
Ron Reese, CR of REE-Construction, a provider of cleaning, emergency, content and structural restoration services has been involved in property damage restoration since 1983. Ron is a Certified Restorer (CR), a Certified Mold Remediator (CMR), an Accredited Mold Remediation Technician (AMRT)and a Water Loss Specialist (WLS) He contributed to the IICRC S-500 Water Damage Standard and the IICRC S-520 Mold Remediation Standards.
He was a member of the Restoration Industry Association (formerly ASCR) Water Damage Committee that presented the Water Loss Institute concept to the RIA Board for approval in 1995 and was the author of the WLI’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. He served on the Advisory Committee of the WLI , as WLI President and on RIA Board. He helped develop and chaired several of the WLI’s Annual Conferences and facilitated discussions on subjects both within RIA and for other industry organizations. His restoration firm was designated as a Big 50 Remodeler by Remodeling Magazine in 2001.
In addition to authoring numerous published articles dealing with industry issues and he has acted as an industry trainer throughout the United Sates and Canada.
